This page explains exactly how the content on CRWC Rail Hub is produced, where the data comes from, and what its limits are. We would rather be specific about our method than make vague claims of expertise.
Where our data comes from
Train schedules and station details are compiled from Indian Railways’ publicly published timetable data. That data tells us, for a given train number, the sequence of halts and the booked arrival and departure time and distance at each one. Our pages present that information in a readable form and add context around it.
What this data is not
- It is not live. A booked timetable does not know that your train is running 90 minutes late today. For that, use NTES “Spot Your Train”.
- It is a snapshot. Indian Railways revises its timetable, and individual trains are re-timed, diverted or cancelled between revisions. A page can be correct when published and wrong three months later.
- Some names are abbreviated at source. The dataset stores station and train names in a short fixed-width field, so some intermediate station names appear truncated (for example “Shri Mata Va” for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra). Station codes are unaffected and are the reliable identifier. We are progressively expanding these names.
How pages are written and reviewed
Each train and station page is generated from the underlying dataset to a consistent template, then edited for readability and checked for obvious data problems — origin and destination that disagree with the halt list, impossible timings, empty fields. The factual content of a timetable page is the data; the editorial work is in presenting it clearly and being honest about its limits.
Pages are written and maintained by the CRWC Rail Hub editorial team. We do not publish invented author identities or claim first-hand experience we do not have. Where a page states a fact, that fact traces back either to the published timetable dataset or to an official source we link to.
Corrections
We treat corrections as a priority, not an inconvenience. Report an error through the contact page with the train number or station code. If a reported error is confirmed we fix the page; if we cannot confirm it, we will say so rather than change data on guesswork.
Our advice on any important journey
Use this site to plan and understand your journey. Before you actually travel, confirm the timing on NTES or IRCTC. No reference site — this one included — should be your only source for catching a train.
